29 CFR 1910.132(a): Protective equipment was not used when necessary whenever hazards capable of causing injury and impairment were encountered. On or about January 28 2020, three employees (temporary and permanent) were exposed to explosion and/or fire hazards that resulted in second degree burns to the hands, arms, and face when a High Speed Line operator manually picked up an unbounded and ungrounded plastic 55-gallon drum to transfer a flammable windshield car cleaning product (TBS-C15A) to another unbounded, ungrounded plastic 55-gallon drum (back drum). The employer did not require use of adequate personal protective equipment to protect against burns to the arms and face. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
