Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.132(a): Protective equipment, including personal protective equipment for eyes, face, head, and extremities, protective clothing, respiratory devices, and protective shields and barriers, were not provided, used, and maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition wherever it is necessary by reason of hazards of processes or environment, chemical hazards, radiological hazards, or mechanical irritants encountered in a manner capable of causing injury or impairment in the function of any part of the body through absorption, inhalation or physical contact: The employer is failing to protect employees from cut and amputation hazards associated with a flash trimming activities. This was most recently documented on or about 03/09/2018, CABKA North America Inc., located at 123 Byassee Drive, Hazelwood, MO, the employer failed to provide or make use of personal protective equipment such as but not limited to cut resistant gloves, forearm sleeves and body aprons for the employee(s) trimming flashing from the plastic pallets. Due to the employer failing to provide a cut resistant apron, an employee received a sharp cut into their thigh causing a severe injury.
