Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.147(c)(1): Energy control program. The employer shall establish a program consisting of energy control procedures, employee training and periodic inspections to ensure that before any employee performs any servicing or maintenance on a machine or equipment where the unexpected energizing, startup or release of stored energy could occur and cause injury, the machine or equipment shall be isolated from the energy source and rendered inoperative. WORKSHOP: The employer had not established and implemented a site specific hazardous energy control lockout/tagout program consisting of machine specific step-by-step written energy control procedures and employee training for the employees during servicing and maintenance of equipment, such as (but not limited to) the printing presses and cutters. The Harty Press, Inc. dba Harty Integrated Solutions was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard 29 CFR 1910.147(c)(1), which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 1189993, Citation Number 1, Item Number 2a, issued on 03-06-2017 with respect to a workplace located at 25 James Street, New Haven, CT 06513 and became a final order 05-08-2017.
