29 CFR 1926.651(k)(1): Daily inspections of excavations, the adjacent areas, and protective systems were not made by a competent person for evidence of a situation that could have resulted in possible cave-ins or other hazardous conditions: a) Ferry Market Construction site, New Hope PA - On or about May 8, 2017, A daily inspection of a trench had not been conducted by a competent person for evidence of a situation that could result in a collapse. Abatement note: Among other feasible means of abatement would be to provide training for employees in excavation safety and/or a competent person training course to ensure the designated competent person has the ability to conduct daily inspection of excavations for evidence of collapse, deficiencies in protective systems, and other hazards employees may be exposed to.
