29 CFR 1910.1000(c): An employee(s) was exposed to copper fume (as Cu) in excess of the 8-hour time weighted average (TWA) limits of 0.1 mg/m³ listed in Table Z-3: On or about 5/31/17, employees buffing/sanding brass musical instrument parts were exposed to copper in excess of the 8-hour TWA limit of 0.1 mg/m³: Outside-bell sanding area: (a) An employee sanding the outsides of bells for brass musical instruments was exposed to 0.51 mg/m³ of copper as an 8-hour TWA, which is 5.1 times the permissible exposure limit (PEL). Buffing Room: (b) An employee buffing the bells of brass musical instruments was exposed to 1.98 mg/m³ of copper as an 8-hour TWA, which is 19.8 times the PEL. (c) An employee buffing brass musical instrument parts was exposed to 0.58 mg/m³ as an 8-hour TWA, which is 5.8 times the PEL.
