29 CFR 1910.157(c)(1): Portable fire extinguishers were not mounted, located and identified so that they were readily accessible without subjecting the employees to injuries: a) Building 18, Shop, Next to used oil tank: Two 10 pound fire extinguishers were blocked by a 55 gallon drum and plastic containers. The extinguishers were not mounted, on or about 9/12/2016. b) Building 18, Shop, Next to Eyewash Station: One 10 pound portable fire extinguisher was blocked by miscellaneous stored items, on or about 9/12/2016. c) Building 18, Shop, Next to Snap-On Tool Box: One 10 pound portable fire extinguisher was blocked by small miscellaneous metal parts, on or about 9/12/2016. d) Building 18, Near Air Compressor: One 10 pound portable fire extinguisher was blocked by metal containers which were used to store metal chains and hooks, on or about 9/12/2016. NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM, FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 AS PER 29 CFR 1903.19.
