Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.332(b)(1): Employees were not trained in and familiar with the safety-related work practices required by 1910.331 through 1910.335 that pertained to their respective job assignments: (a) 3M Company, 1301 Lowell Street, Elyria, Ohio: On or about February 13, 2016, the employer did not ensure that employees operating the CML #1 and CML #2 production equipment were trained in the safety related work practices that pertained to their job. Employees routinely worked near exposed, energized electrical conductors, terminals, and electrodes and were unaware of the requirement for electrical protective gloves to be tested at least every 6 months, were not aware that the insulation of the electrical protective gloves was to be protected from damage through the use of protectors, and that the gloves used to protect from shock hazard were rated for a maximum voltage which was less than the applied voltage to the electrodes on the CML. Employees were at risk of electrical shock from using gloves that were not appropriate for the hazards in the workplace.
