29 CFR 1910.1025(d)(2): An initial determination was not made to determine if any employee may be exposed to lead at or above the action level: a. Steam Stripping Room - On or about March 5, 2015, the employer exposed employees to an airborne lead level of 465 micrograms per cubic meter, 9.3 times the permissible exposure limit (PEL) of 50 micrograms per cubic meter, without having evaluated the job task to determine the level of lead that the employees could be exposed to while performing steam stripping, scraping and sanding. b. Routing Room - On or about March 5, 2015, the employer exposed employees to an airborne lead level of 52.5 micrograms per cubic meter, 1.05 times the permissible exposure limit (PEL) of 50 micrograms per cubic meter, without having evaluated the job task to determine the level of lead that the employees could be exposed to while perform routing on sashes that potentially contain lead. c. Production Area - On or about March 5, 2015, the employer exposed employees to an airborne lead level of 6.85 micrograms per cubic meter where sanding, cutting, and other finish work were being performed, without having evaluated the job task to determine the level of lead to which employees could be exposed.
