Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(8): Ladders placed in a location where they could be displaced by workplace activities or traffic, such as in passageways, doorways, or driveways, were not secured to prevent accidental displacement, nor was a barricade used to keep the activities or traffic away from the ladder. An employee working on the exterior of the jobsite adjacent to Public Alley 419 was using a 24 foot extension ladder to perform touch up work on the brick face approximately 18 feet 10 inches above the ground did not secure the ladder or use a barricade to prevent ladder displacement. An employee was fatally injured when the ladder moved and he fell head first to the pavement below.
