29 CFR 1926.652(e)(2)(i): Excavation of material to a level no greater than 2 feet (.61m) below the bottom of the members of a support system was permitted where the system was not designed to resist the forces calculated for the full depth of the trench: -Employees were working in an excavation that was measured to be 8'-0" in depth with the trench shield located 4'-2" from the bottom of the excavation, exposing employees to a potential cave in hazard.
