29 CFR 1910.37(b)(2): Each exit was not clearly visible and marked by a sign reading Exit . a) Several of the fire exit doors had paper notices saying Not an Exit . The notices were intended to prevent unauthorized use of the alarmed exit doors by store customers, but in a fire/ smoke emergency the notices could cause store employees to be confused or to look for a different exit, resulting in delay in egress. Location: 980 Third Ave, New York, N.Y. On or about 1/17/2014 NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
