29 CFR 1910.303(b)(7)(iv): There were damaged parts that may adversely affect safe operation or mechanical strength of the equipment, such as parts that are broken, bent, cut, or deteriorated by corrosion, chemical action or overheating. On or about September 17, 2013, employees were operating equipment associated with the grain bins that had broken electrical equipment, in several instances including but not limited to: a) 2 breaks in the conduit to the auger switchbox. b) 2 breaks in the conduit leading to the auger motor. Abatement note: Frequent inspections should include identifying and correcting defects in electrical wiring, switches, boxes and equipment.
