29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Machine guarding was not provided to protect operator(s) and other employees from hazard(s) created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: The employer does not guard the point of operation of machines whose operation exposes an employee to injury: a) This violation was observed on or about January 15, 2013, in the Grinding Room where employees were exposed to a stuck-by hazard when operating Grinder (#2, Serial #7041) without a chuck guard. b) This violation was observed on or about January 15, 2013, in the Grinding Room where employees were exposed to a struck-by hazard when operating a Heald Lathe (Model 274) without chuck guard. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including the steps that it is taking to ensure that guards are installed on all machines to protect employees from the point of operation.
