Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: a) Mold Yard Area; Employees were exposed to being inadvertently struck by radio remote control diesel locomotives in that repairs and/or replacements were not provided promptly as needed for the safe operation of remote control locomotive #12. There was oil leaking on the steps, the warning horn was not operable; the running lights were inoperable, the compressors recommended to operate at a minimum of 70 p.s.i. by FEMCO to ensure proper instrumentation wereoperating at only 40 p.s.i. air pressure, the remot-off-manual switch handle was off and laying on the floor of the cab, the locomotive side doors did not close, and locomotive engineers' daily inspection reports were not being filled out.
