29 CFR 1910.332(b)(1): Employees were not trained in and familiar with the safety-related work practices required by 1910.331 through 1910.335 that pertained to their respective job assignments: a) On or about 4/1/12 thru 6/7/12 in various areas of St. John Fisher College, Rochester, NY: Electricians and HVAC Technicians perform installation, maintenance, & repair of electrical equipment, including voltage testing & troubleshooting live on circuits up to 480 volts-ac where they are potentially exposed to shock and arc flash hazards which necessated the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for eyes, face, head, torso,hands, and extremities. These employees were not trained and familiar with requirements to wear appropriate PPE for the tasks they performed, and how to select the proper PPE for the task. b) On or about 4/1/12 thru 6/7/12 in various areas of St. John Fisher College, Rochester, NY: Electricians and HVAC Technicians perform installation, maintenance, & repair of electrical equipment, including voltage testing & troubleshooting live on circuits up to 480 volts-ac and work on de-energized circuits. These employees were not trained and familiar with the requirement to de-energize and lockout before performing electrical work and under what circumstances it is permissible to work on/near energized parts. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
