Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about August 10, 2010, at 7201 Addison Reserve Blvd in the city of Delray Beach, FL, an employee was trimming trees on a defective ladder. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard is to require employees to frequently inspect ladders prior to use, if a ladder is identified as defective it should be withdrawn from service for repair or destruction and tagged or marked as "Dangerous, Do not Use". PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
