Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: CAUGHT
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the condition(s) listed below: Amarillo Globe News Division of Morris Communications, 900 S. Harrison, Amarillo, Texas. For the period of time up to and including May 30, 2010, the employer did not ensure that a Telescoping Belt Conveyor with double boom extension was maintained and the draw bar was working properly. An employee sustained an injury to the leg while operating the conveyor. This condition exposed employee(s) to caught in between hazards. Feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard includes, but are not limited to a) Ensure that the Telescoping Belt Conveyor is maintained according to the service manual. b) Ensure that employees are trained to operated the Telescoping Belt conveyor according to the service manual. Note: Abatement certification and supporting documentation are required for this item.
