Nevada Revised Statute 618.375(1): Duties of employers. The employer failed to furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees: The employer did not ensure that their place of employment was free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees as follows: a.Located at the tow truck repair facility at Silver State Towing, two automotive lifts installed by the owner, were utilized by an employee that was not trained to operate the lifts as required by American National Standard for Automotive Lifts - 2008 for operation, inspection and maintenance. Reference: ANSI for Automotive Lifts - 2008, 4.2.1; The owner or employer shall ensure that operators of automotive lifts are instructed in the safe use and operation of the lift using manufacturer-provided instructions and warning labels and the Automotive Lift Institute publications, "Quick Reference Guide, Vehicle Lifting Points for Frame Engaging Lifts", "Lifting it Right", "Safety Tips" and this ALOIM Standard. A reasonable means of abatement would be to train all employees on auto lifts before operating as required by ANSI for Automotive Lifts - 2008.
