Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: EXPLOSION

Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to explosion hazards: Employees were exposed to explosion hazards from the transfer of powered Polyvinyl Chloride Resin via a pneumatic type conveying and processing system from the rail car(s) at the receiving station being conveyed to the holding tank for further processing. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS: to connect a bonding cable from the railcar to the storage tank to ground as recommended by NFPA 77-33 29 CFR 1903.19(c)(1) requires certification that the abatement of the above violation is completed.
