Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: CAUGHT
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a) At Farmers Grain & Co-Op for employees engaged in railcar placement under the load-out on the west side of the main elevator with the use of the rail king car puller and exposed to the potential hazard of being caught between the railcars created by the lack of two radios or other warning devices to signal employees when it is safe to move the railcars. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to provide employees engaged in railcar spotting with adequate two-way radios for communication or some form of audible warning devices to signal employees when railcars are to be moved. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement Certification Letter").tion
