Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to the employees in that employees were exposed to struck by/caught between hazards and resulting blunt force trauma injuries from roof truss collapse: a.Lot 18 Calvert Circle, McCauley Crossing Subdivision - Employees were installing sheathing on trusses that had been erected on the residential home. The trusses erected, were not installed in accordance with BCSI 1-03 in that temporary horizontal and diagonal bracing was not installed along the top cord web member and/or continually across the interior chord, as determined on 03/11/08. NOTE: Among other methods, one or more feasible and acceptable methods of abatement to correct this hazard would be to follow the manufacturer's recommendations on roof truss erection or the BSCI 1-03 issued by the Wood Truss Council of America and Truss Plate Institute.
