Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: UNAPEQUIP
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of energized machinery: a/ At the gin, the employer failed to develop specific energy control procedures for machinery such as PHX Press which uses a combination of 440-volts, hydraulics, and pneumatics to operate. One method of abatement to correct this apparent hazard is to develop specific energy control procedures in writing as required by ANSI Z244.1-2003, paragraph 5.3.1.1. DISCLAIMER: a) The employer is not limited to the abatement method(s) suggested by OSHA. b) The employer is responsible for selecting and implementing an effective abatement method. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND ABATEMENT VERIFICATION ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
