Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: ELECTRIC
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of: a) Electrical shock while connecting a sump pump to a wall receptacle while wet from water in the tanks they have been working in. Employees enter the grow out, nursery and reservoir tanks when harvesting shrimp or cleaning the tanks. Among other methods, recognized and feasible means to correct this hazard include, but are not limited to; equip wall receptacles or branch circuits with a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter to protect employees from electrical shock.
