Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to serious burn to the eyes: a) The area where a Class IV laser welder is located was not controlled by the required signage. Additionally, the area of the Class IV laser welder was not equipped with a blocking screen system to prevent laser light from exiting the area at levels that exceed the maximum permissible exposure serious.
