Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: ELECTRIC
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to shock hazards: a)On or about April 18, 2007 and at times prior, employees in the plant were exposed to shock hazards where on the west side of the plant at the base of the silos and hoppers, live electrical conductors were not guarded. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to repair the junction boxes that should contain the conductors or de-energize electrical equipment that is not in use.
