Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: FALLING
North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: a)establishment, parking lot - where employee(s) were exposed to fall hazards while working in the tree branches of "Crepe Myrtle" trees without fall restraint. Abatement Note: One feasible and acceptable abate method, among others, to correct this hazard is to required employees to work from ladders or an aerial lift. [Reference: American Nation Standard for tree Care Operations, Pruning, trimming, repairing, maintaining, and removing trees, and cutting brush - Safety Requirements, ANSI Z133.1-1994, Section 9, Work Procedures: 9.1 Climbing - Tree workers shall be tied in with an approved climbing line and a tree climber's saddle when working above the ground.]
