North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a) Facility, Steel Fabrication - Two underhung monorail crane systems with one manual hoist each, were not inspected frequently. REF:ANSI B30.11-1998, Chapter 11-2, Paragraph 11-2.1.2 (a)Frequent inspections shall be performed at intervals defined in para. 11-2.1.1(b)(1) and shall include observations during operation. Visual examination by the operator or other designated personnel, with records not required, as follows: normal service -- monthly. NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to conduct frequent inspections (monthly) of the monorail crane systems per the requirements of section 11.2.1.2 of ANSI B30-11-1998.
