Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: the hazard of falling while working at n the High Island oil field, Taylor Cade Lease, Well #2, workover Rig #6 on or about the date of March 15, 2007. The employee on the finger board at a height greater than 10 feet above the rig floor or other working surface was not adequately protected from fall hazards. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to comply with Section 5.5 (Fall Protection) of the American Petroleum Institute (API) standard RP54-1999, Recommended Practices for Occupational Safety and Health for Oil and Gas Well Drilling and Servicing Operations.
