Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a crushed-by hazard: On or about 03/12/2007, employees operating forklifts were not wearing a seat belt, which exposed them to a crushed-by hazard if it were to tip over. One feasible and acceptable method for abatement is to instruct the employees to always wear a seat belt while operating the equipment. PLEASE NOTE: DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
