Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: UNAPOPPROC
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer does not furnish employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees are exposed to a FIRE HAZARD. A recent instance of this violation occurred when: a)Baker Road Drilling Site, on or about 05/12/06; The employer parked a pick- up truck within 100-feet from the wellbore. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means of abatement is to: 1). Follow American Petroleum Institute (API) RP54, the Recommended Practice for Occupational Safety for Oil & Gas Well Drilling Operations, dated August 1999, paragraph 18.5. 2). Follow the employers Accident Prevention Handbook, paragraph 6.4C. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19(d), the employer must provide documentation that this violation has been abated within 10 calendar days of the date it receives the citation.
