Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard created by component failure: a) 252-254 Doremus ave. Newark NJ 07105 The employer permitted employees to operate Dico Crane Model H10 crane to lift loads without knowing the their weight. Violation disclosed on or about 11/24/2005. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to comply with the requirements established by the manufacturer, such as but not limited to knowing the weight of the load being handled (p.7 Operating Manual). b) 252-254 Doremus ave. Newark NJ 07105 The employer allowed the Dico Crane Model H10 to be operated daily. The only maintenance performed was "grease the bearings every month or when needed", and rebuild the entire unit 1 x per year". Violation disclosed on or about 12/14/2005. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to comply with the requirements established by the manufacturer with respect to maintenance and lubrication (Operating Manual).ng
