Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: LIFTING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling loads and/or falling hoist parts: (a)Plantwide - The Load Rating/Maximum Lifting Capacities of underhung crane and monorail systems including but not limited to the underhung crane located in the Floor Assembly Area and the tandem monorail system located in the Roof Assembly Area had not been established in that rated load tests had not been performed, on or about June 23, 2006. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct these hazards is to establish lifting capacities in accordance with the hoist manufacturer's operations manual and in accordance with ANSI B30.11 - Standard for Monorail Systems and Underhung Cranes - Chapter 11-2.2 1999 Addenda.
