Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: GUARDING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to a caught-in-between hazard: On or about 06/18/05, and on previous occasions, an employee was operating a New Holland Skid Steer Loader that had the side screens removed, exposing the employee to the pinch point created by the bucket arms and the loader frame. Among other methods of abatement, a feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is for the employer to ensure all side screen guards are in place prior to use. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
