Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: LACKTRAIN
Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards associated with woodworking machinery: (a) Employees were not trained on the safe methods of operation and the hazards of the machines before they were required to work with woodworking machinery. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be to ensure that employees receive careful instructions in the hazards of the machine and the safe method of operation before any inexperienced employee is permitted to operate any woodworking machine as specified in the ANSI 01.1 1992 USA Standard Safety Code for Woodworking Machinery, Section 7.1.3.
