Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: UNAPEQUIP
North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a)upholstery packing and department and decorolac department -- a load test of all underhung overhead hoists was conducted. REFERENCE:ANSI B30.11-1998, Chapter 11-2, Section 11-2.2, Inspection, Paragraph 11-2..2.2(a). New, reinstalled, altered, repaired, and modified equipment should be load tested prior to initial use. NOTE:Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to conduct a load test of all overhead hoists as required by the above listed reference.
