Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about 8/14/04, on the southeastern part of the site, the ground man of a tower crane, was exposed to a struck by hazard because the crane operator was not responsible for the operations under the operator's direct control. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to allow the crane operator authority for the operations under his direct control. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
