Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that foundry employees working with the jacket crane and the #3 and #4 crane were exposed to the potential hazard of being struck by materials carried by the cranes if the materials were to be disengaged from the crane hooks due to missing safety latches: a.Kenton Iron Products, Inc. located in Kenton, Ohio: On or about December 12, 2005, the employer did not ensure the hook for the jacket crane located in the foundry area was equipped with a safety latch. b.Kenton Iron Products, Inc. located in Kenton, Ohio: On or about December 12, 2005, the employer did not ensure the hook for the #3 & #4 crane located in the foundry area was equipped with a safety latch. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to comply with the requirements of ANSI B30.10 "Safety Standard for Cableways, Cranes, Derricks, Hoists, Hooks, Jacks, and Slings". No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
