Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: LIFTING

Section 5(a)(1) of Public Law 91-596, the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, on or about March 16, 2004, at Clearspan Components, Inc. where employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by falling loads dropped from below-the-hook lifting devices throughout the facility which did not have permanent markings identifying the manufacturers information and rated load and the devices on the Small Wall Line had defective and missing bolts. Among other methods, one feasible method to correct this hazard is to follow the requirements of American National Standard Institute, ANSI/ASME B30.20, for Below-The-Hook Lifting Devices.
