Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: EXPLOSION
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to explosion hazards: (a) Location - 407 Mystic Avenue, Medford, MA: On or about 058/17/03, employees were exposed to serious explosion hazards while demolishing a concrete block wall, because the gas meter and oil tanks were not protected against damage. Among other methods, feasible means of abatement would be to develop a demolition plan that addressed the protection of the utilities in the immediate area, Training for the exposing employees of the safe proper technique of demolition of a wall similar to OSHA STD's in CFR 1926.850 or ANSI A10.6-1969.
