Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: LACKTRAIN
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to scalding hazards: Frying Area - The Set Up employees were improperly trained by the employer to use 5 gallon plastic buckets to drain oil from the deep fryer vat for disposal instead of using a removal cart in accordance to the corporations's own procedures. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to: 1.Require management personnel to review the training manual for the proper procedures for draining and removing the oil from the deep fryer vats; and 2.Be directly involved with the training process of the Set Up trainee.
