Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: CRUSHING

North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to: a)Facility, Compressor area - employees were allowed access to that area where a wall (meant to isolate the air compressors) and composed of 8 inch cinder blocks, is structurally unsound. The bottom 3 rows of blocks are no longer held together with mortar, and most have been moved/displaced to some degree. The only thing holding the wall in place appears to be its own weight. The wall is at least 6 foot 4 inches tall (9 tiers). Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to dismantle the wall and replace it with another cinder block wall, properly constructed and braced.cted
