Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: FALLING

Title 40.1-51.1 (a), Code of Virginia: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: At the steps adjacent to the child care playground, employees accessing the school grounds during educational and maintenance operations, are exposed to tripping and fall hazards. If an employee trips and falls from the uneven and unsecured concrete blocks used as steps at the 19 inch elevation change in this area, they may suffer fractures, sprains and abrasions. One feasible and acceptable abatement, among others, to correct this hazard is to replace the concrete blocks with steps meeting the requirements outlined in 1910.24.
