North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)impregnation area -- a monorail system containing three 2000 pond hoists was not labeled correctly to include the combined weight of all three hoists. REFERENCE:ANSI B30.11-1998, Chapter 11-1, Section 11-1.1, Paragraph 11-1.1.2 - Rated Load Markings - Monorails. The rated load of each hoist on a monorail shall be marked in accordance with ASME B30.16. Combined loads of hoists shall not exceed the rated load of the monorail. NOTE:Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement is to properly label the monorail with the combined permissible loads of the hoists while ensuring the combined loads do not exceed the rated load of the monorail.
