Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a ladder being placed on an slippery surfaces IAW ANSI Std A14.5 Para 9.3.4: (a) On are about 6 Jun 2001 at Alliance Forest Products U.S Corp Coosa Pines - a employee was fatality injury when the 20 foot ladder he was working from slipped out from under him. The 20 foot plastic ladder was used on a wet surface. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method would include, but would not be limited to: Insure that all employees evaluate the work area for possible hazards before climbing the ladder.
