Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: On or about September 26, 2001 through October 17, 2001 (according to employee interviews), employees were elevated and working inside a shop made wooden personnel lift used with a Gradall All Terrain Fork Lift. Without wearing a personal fall arrest system (harnesses with attached lanyards). This condition exposed the employees to a fall hazard of up to 30 feet to ground level. One or more acceptable feasible abatement methods could be achieved by following the: Safety Standard for Rough Terrain Forklift Trucks (ANSI B56.6-1992) Chapter 5, Section 5.15 Elevating Personnel items (a) through (y) of this subpart. No certification required. Violation Abated.on
