Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) The hazard of being crushed or impaled as the result of a rear end collision on or about 4 May 2000 and at times prior thereto while riding on the unprotected bed of the mobile truck mounted crash attenuator vehicle which is used to protect the lives and equipment operating on highways during line painting operations. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is permit only the operator of the mobile truck mounted crash attenuator to be in the vehicle when it is deployed for its intended purpose. __ Abatement certification or documentation is NOT required for this item. __ Abatement certification is required for this item.
