Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to not being trained in rescue procedures: a) Scott's Tree Service and Landscaping, Inc., 4700 Drexelbrook Drive, Drexel Hill, PA - Employees were not trained in rescue procedures during the tree trimming process. On 7/11/00, and employee fell approximately 60 feet to his death when the common anchorage point for both the lifeline and the material handling failed. ABATEMENT NOTE: AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE MEANS OF ABATEMENT TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE RESCUE TRAINING. NOTE: ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION REQUIREDATION
