Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: UNAPEQUIP
North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina : The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to : a)unsafe operation of equipment/ machinery. Monitoring employees operation of refuse collection truck # 84 was not done to ensure proper use, including following safe work practices, prior to the accident on July 30, 1997 at Hobgood Academy and the subsequent death of the injured worker. ¿Ref ANSI Z245.1-1992 paragraph 6.1b)! "Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is the implementation of a safety program that includes periodic monitoring by supervisors and training employees to do continuous monitoring of each work activity."
