Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of electrical shock, burn or electrocution from the use of ungrounded appliances in the presence of water: The following condition contributed to the existence of this hazard: (a)F/T Ocean Peace: In the galley, a receptacle next to the sink that was not protected with ground-fault circuit-interrupters (GFCI) at either the outlet or the electrical panel. NOTE: One feasible means of abatement, among others, is to install a receptacle or circuit breaker that is protected by a GFCI at each location.
