Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being crushed by the rig if the jack stands slide off the improper sized matting. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazardous condition would be to equip the rig with proper sized matting, and enforce the use of such matting. The correct procedures are specified in section II of the AOSC Safe Procedures and Guidelines Manual and the Operators Manual Section II Part 3.rt
